Ingredients

  • 1 cup of rice
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon of oil
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  • 1. Rinse the rice thoroughly and soak it in water for 30 minutes.
  • 2. Heat oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until golden brown.
  • 3. Add the cumin powder, turmeric powder, and salt to the pan and mix well.
  • 4. Drain the soaked rice and add it to the pan. Stir well to coat the rice with the spices.
  • 5. Add the water to the pan and bring it to a boil.
  • 6. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and let the rice cook for about 15-20 minutes or until all the water is absorbed and the rice is cooked.
  • 7. Remove the pan from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes.
  • 8. Fluff the rice with a fork and garnish with fresh cilantro.
