Ingredients

  • 1 box white cake mix
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans.
  • In a large bowl, beat cake mix, eggs, sour cream, oil, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • In a small saucepan, heat heavy cream until it just begins to simmer. Remove from heat and stir in white chocolate chips until melted and smooth.
  • Add melted white chocolate mixture to cake batter and mix until well combined.
  • Divide batter evenly between prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  • Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then remove from pans and let cool completely on wire racks.
  • To make frosting, beat softened butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and beat until well combined.
  • Add white chocolate mixture to frosting and beat until light and fluffy.
  • Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread frosting over the top. Place second cake layer on top and frost entire cake.
