Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup sliced bell peppers
- 1/2 cup sliced red onions
- 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1/4 cup sliced black olives
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, yeast, salt, and sugar.
- Add warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Mix well until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it with a clean kitchen towel. Let it rise for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Punch down the dough and transfer it to a greased baking sheet. Press the dough into a round shape, about 1/4 inch thick.
- Spread pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
- Arrange sliced bell peppers, red onions, mushrooms, and black olives on top of the cheese.
- Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
- Garnish with chopped fresh basil before serving.
- Slice the pizza into wedges and serve hot.
