Ingredients

  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 1 cup lentils
  • 1 tablespoon ghee
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups water
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish

Directions

    Rinse the basmati rice and lentils under cold water until the water runs clear.

    Heat the ghee in a large pot over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent.
