About this recipe

Indulge in a savory vegetarian burger that combines the hearty texture of quinoa and black beans with aromatic spices. This well-balanced and nutritious patty is perfect for a satisfying and healthy meal, whether enjoyed at a family dinner or a casual lunch with friends.

Ingredients

  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1/2 cup cooked quinoa
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely diced onion
  • 1/4 cup finely diced bell pepper
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Your choice of toppings: lettuce, tomato, avocado, etc.

Directions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. 2

Mash black beans in a large bowl with a fork, leaving some texture.

  3. 3

Mix in quinoa, breadcrumbs, onion, bell pepper, garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper until well combined.

  4. 4

Form mixture into 4 equal patties and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

  5. 5

Bake in the oven for 25 minutes, flipping halfway through until patties are firm and slightly crispy on the outside.

  6. 6

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Quickly sear each burger for 1-2 minutes on each side for extra crispiness.

  7. 7

Serve on buns with your favorite toppings and enjoy!

Chef's tip

Using pre-cooked quinoa and canned black beans speeds up the prep time. For gluten-free burgers, substitute breadcrumbs with gluten-free options or crushed oats.
