- 3/4 cup vegetable broth
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the vital wheat gluten, nutritional yeast, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, dried thyme, dried rosemary, dried sage, salt, and black pepper.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the vegetable broth, soy sauce, olive oil, and tomato paste.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 5 minutes, until it becomes elastic and slightly sticky.
- Divide the dough into small pieces and shape them into chicken-like pieces.
- In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add the seitan pieces and simmer for 1 hour.
- Remove the seitan from the pot and let it cool.
- Once cooled, the seitan can be used in various recipes or stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
