Ingredients

  • 1 block of firm tofu
  • 1 cup of plant-based milk
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of paprika
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  • 1. Drain and press the tofu to remove excess moisture.
  • 2. Cut the tofu into desired chicken-like shapes, such as strips or nuggets.
  • 3. In a shallow bowl, whisk together the plant-based milk and spices.
  • 4. In another shallow bowl, combine the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  • 5. Dip each tofu piece into the milk mixture, then coat it in the flour mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
  • 6. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  • 7. Carefully place the coated tofu pieces into the hot oil, frying in batches if necessary.
  • 8. Fry the tofu for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  • 9. Remove the fried tofu from the oil and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  • 10. Serve hot and enjoy!
