Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (10.75 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • In a large skillet, cook ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until beef is browned and onion is tender. Drain any excess fat.
  • Stir in cream of mushroom soup, milk, and sour cream. Heat through.
  • In a separate saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour, salt, and pepper until smooth. Gradually add in milk, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens.
  • Spread half of the mashed potatoes in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Top with half of the beef mixture, then half of the cheese. Repeat layers.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until heated through and cheese is melted and bubbly.
