Ingredients

  • 4 large tomatoes
  • 1 onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 inch piece of ginger
  • 2 green chilies
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • 1. Chop the tomatoes, onion, garlic, ginger, and green chilies.
  • 2. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Let them crackle.
  • 3. Add chopped onion, garlic, ginger, and green chilies. Saute until onions turn translucent.
  • 4. Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
  • 5. Cook the mixture on medium heat until tomatoes become soft and mushy.
  • 6. Remove from heat and let it cool down.
  • 7. Transfer the mixture to a blender and blend until smooth.
  • 8. Serve the tomato chutney with dosa, idli, or any other snack of your choice.
