Ingredients

  • 1 pound squid, cleaned and sliced into rings
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, dried thyme, dried basil, and dried parsley.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and egg.
  • Pour the milk mixture into the flour mixture and stir until well combined.
  • Add the squid rings to the batter and toss until evenly coated.
  • Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
  • Working in batches, carefully drop the squid rings into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Remove the squid fritters from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  • Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
