Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese
  • 4 brioche hamburger buns
  • 1/4 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • 1 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 leaves of crisp lettuce
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Directions

  1. 1

    Preheat grill to medium-high heat.

  2. 2

Divide ground beef into 8 equal balls and gently flatten into thin patties.

  3. 3

Season patties with salt and pepper.

  4. 4

Bake bacon on a lined baking sheet at 400°F (200°C) for 12 minutes until crispy. Drain on paper towels.

  5. 5

Grill patties for 3-4 minutes per side, adding cheese slices during the last minute.

  6. 6

Lightly toast hamburger buns on the grill.

  7. 7

Mix barbecue sauce and mayonnaise in a small bowl and spread on the bottom half of each bun.

  8. 8

Assemble by layering with a patty, 2 bacon slices, tomato, onion, and lettuce. Top with the other bun half.

  9. 9

    Serve hot and enjoy!

Chef's tip

Baking bacon instead of frying minimizes mess and keeps your hands free for patty prep.
