About this recipe

This refreshing Turkish salad combines boiled potatoes, onions, and fresh herbs with a citrus-infused dressing. Ideal for warm days, this salad offers a delightful balance of flavors and textures.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium potatoes, washed and whole
  • 1 large red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh dill
  • 1/4 teaspoon sumac
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili flakes

Directions

  1. 1

Boil the whole potatoes in salted water until fork-tender, about 25-30 minutes.

  2. 2

Drain the potatoes and allow them to cool slightly. Peel and cube them while still warm.

  3. 3

In a large bowl, combine warm potato cubes and sliced onion.

  4. 4

In a small bowl, whisk olive oil, lemon juice, salt, black pepper, sumac, and chili flakes.

  5. 5

Pour the dressing over the potato mixture and gently toss to coat.

  6. 6

Add chopped parsley and dill, tossing lightly to combine flavors.

  7. 7

Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving for best taste.

Chef's tip

For extra flavor, consider adding a sprinkle of capers or pickled cucumbers.
