Ingredients

  • 2 cups of whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup of plain yoghurt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • Water (as needed)
  • Ghee or oil (for cooking)

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, plain yoghurt, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add water and knead the mixture to form a soft dough. The dough should not be too sticky or too dry.
  • Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
  • Divide the dough into small equal-sized balls.
  • Take one dough ball and roll it into a small circle using a rolling pin and some flour for dusting.
  • Apply ghee or oil on the rolled dough circle.
  • Fold the circle in half to form a semi-circle.
  • Apply ghee or oil on the folded semi-circle.
  • Fold the semi-circle again to form a triangle.
  • Roll the triangle into a circular shape using a rolling pin and some flour for dusting.
  • Heat a tawa or griddle over medium heat and place the rolled paratha on it.
  • Cook the paratha on both sides until golden brown spots appear.
  • Repeat the process with the remaining dough balls.
  • Serve the soft and circular parathas hot with your favorite curry or chutney.
