About this recipe

Experience the ultimate in barbecue perfection with these smoky BBQ ribs. Carefully seasoned and cooked to tender perfection, these ribs are sure to be a hit at any gathering. Our method combines oven and optional smoker for home cooks, ensuring juicy and flavorful results with a tantalizing crust.

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs pork ribs
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 2 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar (optional)
  • 2 tbsp honey (optional)

Directions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 275°F (135°C).

  2. 2

Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs and brush with yellow mustard.

  3. 3

Combine brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne in a bowl. Rub this mixture over both sides of the ribs.

  4. 4

Place the ribs in a foil-lined baking tray and cover with foil. Bake for 3 hours.

  5. 5

Optional: Prepare your smoker and smoke the ribs at 250°F for 1 hour, using hickory or cherry wood for added flavor.

  6. 6

Brush BBQ sauce over the ribs and bake uncovered for an additional 30 minutes to caramelize.

  7. 7

Rest the ribs for 10 minutes. If used, drizzle with honey or vinegar sauce before serving.

Chef's tip

For an extra layer of flavor, try preparing a simple vinegar sauce or caramelizing with honey. These ribs can be finished on a grill or smoker for that authentic smoky taste.
