Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 slices of cheese
  • Lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles for toppings

Instructions

  • 1. Preheat a griddle or large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • 2. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape them into balls.
  • 3. Season each ball with salt and pepper.
  • 4. Place a ball of ground beef onto the hot griddle and immediately smash it down with a spatula to flatten it.
  • 5. Cook the patty for about 2-3 minutes, until the bottom is browned and crispy.
  • 6. Flip the patty and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the other side is browned and the patty is cooked to your desired level of doneness.
  • 7. Repeat steps 4-6 with the remaining balls of ground beef.
  • 8. Toast the hamburger buns on the griddle until lightly browned.
  • 9. Place a slice of cheese on each patty and allow it to melt.
  • 10. Assemble the burgers by placing a patty on the bottom half of each bun, and topping with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles.
  • 11. Serve the smash burgers immediately and enjoy!
