Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup almond flour
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tbsp ice water
  • 4-5 apples, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F.
  • In a food processor, pulse together the all-purpose flour, almond flour, powdered sugar, and salt until combined.
  • Add the chilled butter and pulse until the mixture resembles coarse sand.
  • Add the egg yolk and ice water and pulse until the dough comes together.
  • Press the dough into a 9-inch tart pan with a removable bottom, making sure to press it up the sides.
  • In a large bowl, toss together the sliced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  • Arrange the apple slices in the tart shell in a circular pattern, starting from the outside and working your way in.
  • Brush the melted butter over the top of the apples.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  • Let cool before serving.
