Ingredients
- 1 cup rice
- 1 cup lentils
- 2 cups water
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon oil
- Fresh cilantro, for garnish
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the rice and lentils under cold water.
- 2. In a large pot, heat the oil over medium heat.
- 3. Add the onion and garlic to the pot and cook until softened.
- 4. Add the cumin, turmeric, and salt to the pot and stir to combine.
- 5. Add the rice, lentils, and water to the pot and bring to a boil.
- 6. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for 20 minutes or until the rice and lentils are cooked and tender.
- 7. Remove the pot from the heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes.
- 8. Fluff the rice and lentils with a fork and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
