Ingredients
- 2 cups basmati rice
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, diced
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- 1 cup green peas
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 cups vegetable broth
- 2 tbsp oil
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the basmati rice until the water runs clear. Set aside.
- 2. In a large pot, heat oil over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds.
- 3. Add chopped onion and garlic, sauté until translucent.
- 4. Add carrots, bell pepper, and green peas. Cook for 5 minutes.
- 5. Stir in turmeric powder, garam masala, salt, and pepper.
- 6. Add rinsed rice and vegetable broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover.
- 7. Cook for 20 minutes or until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
- 8. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve hot.
