Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 lb whole wheat pasta
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, stirring occasionally.
  • Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Meanwhile, cook the pasta according to package directions. Drain and return to the pot.
  • Add the meat sauce to the pasta and toss to combine.
  • Serve hot, topped with Parmesan cheese.
