Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • Food coloring (red, blue, and gray)
  • Buttercream frosting
  • Fondant
  • Edible markers

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a rectangular cake pan.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
  • Divide the batter into three equal parts. Leave one part plain, color one part red, and color the remaining part blue.
  • Pour the plain batter into one side of the greased cake pan. Pour the red batter into the middle section, and the blue batter into the other side.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool completely.
  • Once the cake is cooled, trim the edges to create a rectangular shape resembling a Nintendo Switch console.
  • Cover the entire cake with a thin layer of buttercream frosting.
  • Roll out gray fondant and cover the top and sides of the cake, smoothing it out with your hands.
  • Use edible markers to draw the buttons, screen, and other details on the fondant.
  • Serve and enjoy!
