Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole milk
- Food coloring (red, blue, and gray)
- Buttercream frosting
- Fondant
- Edible markers
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a rectangular cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
- Divide the batter into three equal parts. Leave one part plain, color one part red, and color the remaining part blue.
- Pour the plain batter into one side of the greased cake pan. Pour the red batter into the middle section, and the blue batter into the other side.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool completely.
- Once the cake is cooled, trim the edges to create a rectangular shape resembling a Nintendo Switch console.
- Cover the entire cake with a thin layer of buttercream frosting.
- Roll out gray fondant and cover the top and sides of the cake, smoothing it out with your hands.
- Use edible markers to draw the buttons, screen, and other details on the fondant.
- Serve and enjoy!
