Ingredients

  • 1 cup moong dal
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 1 green chili, chopped
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Water as required

Instructions

  • Wash and soak the moong dal for 2-3 hours.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds and mustard seeds. Let them splutter.
  • Add chopped onion and green chili. Saute until onion turns translucent.
  • Add chopped tomato and cook until it turns soft.
  • Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.
  • Add soaked moong dal and water. Mix well and cook for 10-15 minutes or until the dal is cooked.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
