Ingredients
- 2 cups of rice
- 1 pound of chicken, cut into pieces
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon of ginger paste
- 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon of cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon of coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon of red chili powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons of oil
- 2 cups of water
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnishing
Instructions
- Wash the rice thoroughly and soak it in water for 30 minutes.
- Heat oil in a large pan and add the chopped onion. Cook until the onion turns golden brown.
- Add the minced garlic and ginger paste to the pan. Cook for a minute until the raw smell disappears.
- Add the chicken pieces to the pan and cook until they are browned on all sides.
- Add the turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt to the pan. Mix well to coat the chicken with the spices.
- Drain the soaked rice and add it to the pan. Stir well to combine the rice with the chicken and spices.
- Add water to the pan and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and let it simmer for about 20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the chicken is tender.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
