Ingredients

  • 1 cup besan (gram flour)
  • 1/2 cup suji (semolina)
  • 1/2 cup curd
  • 1/2 tsp ginger paste
  • 1/2 tsp green chilli paste
  • 1/2 tsp eno fruit salt
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp sesame seeds
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp hing (asafoetida)
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, add besan, suji, curd, ginger paste, green chilli paste, salt, and water. Mix well to form a smooth batter.
  • Grease a dhokla plate or a baking dish with oil and keep aside.
  • In a small pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds, sesame seeds, cumin seeds, and hing. Let it splutter.
  • Add this tempering to the batter and mix well.
  • Add eno fruit salt to the batter and mix well. The batter will become frothy.
  • Pour the batter into the greased plate or dish and steam for 15-20 minutes.
  • Once done, let it cool for a few minutes and then cut into pieces.
  • Serve with green chutney or ketchup.
