Ingredients
- 1 cup yogurt
- 2 tbsp besan (gram flour)
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 2-3 dried red chilies
- 10-12 curry leaves
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 2-3 green chilies, slit
- 1/2 tsp asafoetida
- 1 tbsp sugar
- Salt to taste
- 2 cups water
- 2 tbsp oil
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together yogurt, besan, turmeric powder, and water until smooth.
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, dried red chilies, curry leaves, ginger, and green chilies. Saute for a minute.
- Add the yogurt mixture to the pan and stir well. Add salt, sugar, and asafoetida.
- Let the kadhi simmer on low heat for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Adjust the consistency by adding more water if needed.
- Serve hot with steamed rice or khichdi.
