About this recipe

Discover a modern take on the classic lasagna with minimal effort. This easy crock pot lasagna layers pasta, rich meat sauce, and a blend of cheeses, cooked to perfection in a slow cooker. A comforting and hearty meal that the whole family will love, without the fuss of traditional oven cooking.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
  • 1 1/2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 12 lasagna noodles, uncooked
  • 1/2 cup water

Directions

  1. 1

Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, cooking until softened.

  2. 2

Stir in oregano, basil, salt, pepper, crushed tomatoes, and tomato paste. Simmer for 10 minutes.

  3. 3

In a bowl, mix ricotta, 1 1/2 cups mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese.

  4. 4

Coat the crock pot with cooking spray. Spoon a layer of meat sauce into the bottom.

  5. 5

Add a double layer of uncooked noodles, breaking to fit; top with cheese mixture. Repeat layers.

  6. 6

Pour the water around the edges inside the crock pot to add moisture.

  7. 7

Cover and cook on low for 4 hours.

  8. 8

Sprinkle remaining mozzarella on top; let it melt before serving.

Chef's tip

To add a vegetarian twist, replace the ground beef with plant-based crumbles or extra vegetables like zucchini and mushrooms.
