About this recipe

Nasi Goreng Padang is a spicy Indonesian fried rice dish, traditionally from the city of Padang. Known for its fragrant and bold flavors, this delight is a staple in Indonesian cuisine. Featuring succulent chicken, shrimp, and a medley of vegetables, it becomes a complete meal when topped with a perfectly fried egg.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked white rice
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

Remove from heat and garnish with spring onions and fried shallots.

Chef's tip

For a vegetarian version, substitute chicken and shrimp with tofu or tempeh. Adjust the number of chilies to taste if you prefer a milder dish.
