Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Meanwhile, cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a 9x13-inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce. Arrange 4 lasagna noodles on top.
  • Spread half of the ricotta cheese over the noodles, followed by half of the mozzarella cheese and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.
  • Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients, ending with a layer of meat sauce and Parmesan cheese on top.
  • Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until the lasagna is hot and bubbly.
