Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can crushed tomatoes
- 1 can tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/2 cup water
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the meat is browned and the onion is tender. Drain any excess grease.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and water. Bring to a simmer and let cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Meanwhile, cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a 9x13-inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce. Top with a layer of lasagna noodles, followed by a layer of ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, and Parmesan cheese. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, ending with a layer of meat sauce and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let the lasagna cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley, if desired.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
