Ingredients

  • 8 hot dogs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup chilli sauce
  • 1/4 cup chopped scallions

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, sugar, baking powder, and baking soda.
  • Add the warm water and vegetable oil to the dry ingredients and mix until a smooth dough forms.
  • Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and roll each piece into a ball.
  • Flatten each ball into a disc and place a hot dog in the center.
  • Wrap the dough around the hot dog, pinching the edges to seal.
  • Place the buns in a steamer basket and steam for 10-12 minutes, until cooked through.
  • In a small saucepan, heat the chilli sauce over medium heat until warmed through.
  • To serve, top each bun with a spoonful of chilli sauce and some chopped scallions.
