- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 15 oz can tomato sauce
- 6 oz can tomato paste
- 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes
- 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 1 large egg
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 12 lasagna noodles, cooked to al dente

In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with chopped onion and minced garlic over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
