Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon dried basil leaves
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 container (15 oz) ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 12 lasagna noodles, cooked and drained
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- In a large skillet, cook ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain.
- Stir in tomato sauce, tomato paste, diced tomatoes, sugar, basil, salt, and pepper.
- In a small bowl, combine ricotta cheese and egg.
- Spread 1 cup of meat sauce in an ungreased 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Layer with 4 noodles, a third of the ricotta mixture, a third of the mozzarella, and a third of the Parmesan cheese.
- Repeat layers twice.
- Cover and bake for 25 minutes.
- Uncover and bake an additional 25 minutes.
- Let stand for 15 minutes before cutting.
