Ingredients

  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • 6 oz can tomato paste
  • 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 12 lasagna noodles, cooked to al dente

    Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

    In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with chopped onion and minced garlic over medium heat. Drain excess fat.

    Add tomato sauce, tomato paste, diced tomatoes, sugar, basil, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Simmer for 10 minutes.

    Mix ricotta cheese and egg in a bowl until smooth.

    Spread a cup of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish.
