Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh white fish fillets, such as snapper or halibut
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped cilantro
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and finely chopped
  • 1 ripe avocado, diced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Cut the fish fillets into small, bite-sized pieces.
  • In a glass or ceramic bowl, combine the lime juice, lemon juice, and orange juice.
  • Add the fish to the citrus juice mixture, making sure all the pieces are submerged.
  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until the fish is opaque and firm.
  • Remove the fish from the citrus juice mixture and discard the liquid.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the red onion, cilantro, jalapeno pepper, and avocado.
  • Add the fish to the vegetable mixture and gently toss to combine.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve the ceviche chilled, either on its own or with tortilla chips or crackers.
