Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, finely chopped
  • 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 pound spaghetti
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions

  • In a large pot, heat some olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add the onion, garlic, carrot, and celery. Cook until the vegetables are softened.
  • Add the ground beef and pork. Cook until browned and cooked through.
  • Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, red wine, milk, oregano, basil, thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.
  • Bring the sauce to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it cook for at least 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  • While the sauce is simmering, cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions.
  • Once the sauce is done, taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.
  • Serve the sauce over the cooked spaghetti. Top with grated Parmesan cheese.
