Ingredients

  • 2 cups strong coffee
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 package Maria biscuits
  • Cocoa powder for dusting

Instructions

  • In a saucepan, combine the coffee and sugar. Bring to a simmer and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  • In a separate bowl, cream the butter and egg. Add the vanilla extract and mix well.
  • Dip each biscuit into the coffee mixture and layer them in a square dish, alternating with the custard mixture.
  • Repeat the layers until you run out of biscuits and custard, ending with a layer of custard on top.
  • Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  • Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder for decoration.
