Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef short ribs
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C).
  • Season the beef short ribs with salt and pepper.
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large oven-safe pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
  • Add the short ribs and sear them on all sides until browned, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  • Remove the short ribs from the pot and set them aside.
  • In the same pot, add the minced garlic and grated ginger. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Add the beef broth, soy sauce, and brown sugar to the pot. Stir well to combine.
  • Return the short ribs to the pot, making sure they are submerged in the liquid.
  • Cover the pot with a lid and transfer it to the preheated oven.
  • Cook the short ribs for 2-3 hours, or until they are tender and easily fall off the bone.
  • Once cooked, remove the short ribs from the pot and set them aside.
  • Skim off any excess fat from the cooking liquid and strain it into a saucepan.
  • Bring the cooking liquid to a boil over medium heat and let it simmer until it thickens into a sauce.
  • While the sauce is simmering, shred the beef short ribs using two forks.
  • Once the sauce has thickened, pour it over the shredded beef short ribs.
