Ingredients
- 2 pounds beef short ribs
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C).
- Season the beef short ribs with salt and pepper.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large oven-safe pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
- Add the short ribs and sear them on all sides until browned, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove the short ribs from the pot and set them aside.
- In the same pot, add the minced garlic and grated ginger. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the beef broth, soy sauce, and brown sugar to the pot. Stir well to combine.
- Return the short ribs to the pot, making sure they are submerged in the liquid.
- Cover the pot with a lid and transfer it to the preheated oven.
- Cook the short ribs for 2-3 hours, or until they are tender and easily fall off the bone.
- Once cooked, remove the short ribs from the pot and set them aside.
- Skim off any excess fat from the cooking liquid and strain it into a saucepan.
- Bring the cooking liquid to a boil over medium heat and let it simmer until it thickens into a sauce.
- While the sauce is simmering, shred the beef short ribs using two forks.
- Once the sauce has thickened, pour it over the shredded beef short ribs.
