Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
- 1/4 cup cornmeal
- 1/4 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 6 cups thinly sliced apples
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour and granulated sugar. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in cornmeal, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Press half of the mixture into the bottom of a 9-inch pie dish.
- In a separate bowl, toss apples with lemon juice. Arrange apples over crust in pie dish.
- Sprinkle remaining crumb mixture over apples. Dot with butter.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, until topping is golden brown and apples are tender.
- Let cool before serving.
