Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 1/4 cup cornmeal
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 6 cups thinly sliced apples
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour and granulated sugar. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Stir in cornmeal, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  • Press half of the mixture into the bottom of a 9-inch pie dish.
  • In a separate bowl, toss apples with lemon juice. Arrange apples over crust in pie dish.
  • Sprinkle remaining crumb mixture over apples. Dot with butter.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes, until topping is golden brown and apples are tender.
  • Let cool before serving.
