Ingredients
- 4 large apples
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Peel, core, and slice the apples.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Cut the butter into small pieces and add it to the flour mixture. Use your hands or a pastry cutter to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Place half of the apple slices in a greased baking dish. Sprinkle with half of the lemon juice and half of the flour mixture.
- Repeat with the remaining apple slices, lemon juice, and flour mixture.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
