Ingredients

  • 4 boneless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise for serving

Instructions

  • Place the chicken breasts in a bowl and pour the buttermilk over them. Let them marinate for at least 1 hour, or overnight if possible.
  • In a shallow dish, mix together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  • Remove the chicken from the buttermilk and dredge each breast in the flour mixture, pressing the flour onto the chicken to ensure it sticks.
  • Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook for 5-6 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Remove the chicken from the skillet and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  • Toast the hamburger buns and assemble the burgers with lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, and the cooked chicken breasts.
