About this recipe

This modern take on the classic Paratha brings together the savory flavors of spiced potato filling nestled within a crispy and flaky whole wheat flatbread. Perfectly delightful for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, these parathas burst with aromatic spices and fresh herbs, cooked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves
  • Oil for cooking

Directions

  1. 1

Combine flour, salt, and oil in a bowl; slowly add water, kneading to form a smooth, pliable dough. Let rest for 15-20 minutes.

  2. 2

Mix potatoes, onion, cumin, coriander, chili powder, garam masala, turmeric, and coriander leaves in a bowl.

  3. 3

Divide dough into equal balls; flatten and roll each into a small circle.

  4. 4

Place potato filling in each circle's center, seal edges, and roll into a circle again.

  5. 5

Heat a pan over medium heat; cook each paratha for 1-2 minutes per side, brushing with oil.

  6. 6

Serve warm with yogurt or chutney.
