  • 200g minced meat (pork or beef)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons doubanjiang (spicy bean paste)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine
  • 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch, dissolved in 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 green onion, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • 1. Cut the tofu into small cubes and set aside.
  • 2. Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium heat.
  • 3. Add the minced garlic and ginger to the pan and stir-fry for about 1 minute, until fragrant.
  • 4. Add the minced meat to the pan and cook until browned, breaking it up into small pieces with a spatula.
  • 5. Stir in the doubanjiang, soy sauce, and rice wine, and cook for another 2 minutes.
  • 6. Add the tofu cubes to the pan and gently stir to coat them with the sauce.
  • 7. Pour in the chicken or vegetable broth and bring to a simmer.
  • 8. Cover the pan and let the tofu cook for about 5 minutes, until heated through.
  • 9. Stir in the cornstarch mixture and cook for another 2 minutes, until the sauce thickens.
  • 10. Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions.
  • 11. Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
