Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
- 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 1/2 cups grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 1/2 cups ricotta cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the meat is browned and the onion is tender. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, sugar, basil, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Meanwhile, cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Arrange 4 lasagna noodles on top of the sauce. Spread 1/3 of the ricotta cheese over the noodles, followed by 1/3 of the mozzarella cheese and 1/3 of the Parmesan cheese. Repeat the layers two more times, ending with a layer of meat sauce and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until the lasagna is hot and bubbly.
- Let the lasagna cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley, if desired.
- Serve and enjoy!
