Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 onion, diced
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp mustard powder
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 low-carb buns or lettuce leaves, for serving

Instructions

  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned and cooked through, breaking it up with a wooden spoon as it cooks.
  • Add the onion, bell pepper, and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the tomato sauce, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard powder, chili powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10-15 minutes, until the sauce has thickened.
  • Serve the sloppy joes on low-carb buns or lettuce leaves, as desired.
