Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 jalapeno, seeded and diced
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 package refrigerated pie crusts
- 1 egg, beaten
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the diced onion, minced garlic, and jalapeno to the skillet. Cook until the onion is translucent.
- Stir in the cumin, chili powder, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.
- Remove the skillet from the heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
- Unroll the refrigerated pie crusts and cut out circles using a round cookie cutter or a glass.
- Place a spoonful of the ground beef mixture onto each circle of dough.
- Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Use a fork to seal the edges.
- Brush the empanadas with the beaten egg.
- Place the empanadas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
