Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 1/2 cup cold beer
- 1 pound white fish fillets
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, paprika, and black pepper.
- Gradually add water and beer to the dry ingredients, whisking until smooth.
- Cover the batter and let it rest in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
- Dip each fish fillet into the batter, allowing excess to drip off.
- Carefully place the battered fish into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes per side.
- Remove the fish from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with tartar sauce or lemon wedges.
