Ingredients
- 4 cups of milk
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 4 egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon
- Whipped cream and additional nutmeg for garnish
Instructions
- In a saucepan, heat the milk and heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to steam.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar and egg yolks until well combined.
- Slowly pour the hot milk mixture into the egg mixture, whisking constantly.
- Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens slightly (about 5 minutes).
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract, nutmeg, salt, and cinnamon.
- Pour the eggnog into mugs and top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of nutmeg.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
