Ingredients

  • 4 cups of milk
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • Whipped cream and additional nutmeg for garnish

Instructions

  • In a saucepan, heat the milk and heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to steam.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar and egg yolks until well combined.
  • Slowly pour the hot milk mixture into the egg mixture, whisking constantly.
  • Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens slightly (about 5 minutes).
  • Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract, nutmeg, salt, and cinnamon.
  • Pour the eggnog into mugs and top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of nutmeg.
  • Serve warm and enjoy!
