- 4 chicken pieces (legs and thighs)
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 1 cup buttermilk
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, oregano, salt, and black pepper.
- Dip each chicken piece into the buttermilk, then coat it with the flour mixture, pressing it firmly to adhere.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
- Carefully place the coated chicken pieces into the hot oil, skin side down.
- Fry the chicken for about 10 minutes, until golden brown and crispy.
- Flip the chicken pieces and fry for an additional 10 minutes, until the chicken is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- Remove the chicken from the oil and place it on a wire rack to drain excess oil.
- Serve the KFC style fried chicken hot, with your favorite side dishes.
