- 4 cups vegetable oil
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons paprika
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon dried basil
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- 1 tablespoon celery salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon dried mustard
- 1 tablespoon garlic salt
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon white pepper
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 4 pounds chicken pieces
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, paprika, salt, thyme, basil, oregano, celery salt, black pepper, dried mustard, garlic salt, ground ginger, and white pepper.
- Dip each chicken piece into the buttermilk, then coat it in the flour mixture.
- Place the coated chicken pieces into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pot.
- Fry the chicken for about 15-20 minutes, or until it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
- Remove the chicken from the oil and let it drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
