Ingredients
- 1 pound beef brisket
- 1 onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons ginger, grated
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 4 star anise
- 4 cups beef broth
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons fish sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon sriracha sauce
- 8 ounces rice noodles
- Bean sprouts, basil leaves, lime wedges, and sliced jalapenos for serving
Instructions
- In a large pot, add the beef brisket, onion, garlic, ginger, cinnamon sticks, and star anise.
- Pour in the beef broth and chicken broth.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 2 hours, until the beef is tender.
- Remove the beef brisket from the pot and slice thinly.
- Strain the broth and return it to the pot.
- Stir in the fish sauce, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, and sriracha sauce.
- Cook the rice noodles according to package instructions.
- Divide the cooked noodles among serving bowls.
- Top with sliced beef brisket and pour the hot broth over the noodles.
- Serve with bean sprouts, basil leaves, lime wedges, and sliced jalapenos.
