Ingredients
- 1 pound beef, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- Fresh cilantro, for garnish
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the beef, garlic, onion, soy sauce, brown sugar, coriander, cumin, turmeric, chili powder, ginger, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and let marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef mixture and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the coconut milk and water. Pour the mixture into the skillet with the beef and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 15 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix together the cornstarch and water to make a slurry. Slowly pour the slurry into the skillet, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
- Remove from heat and garnish with fresh cilantro. Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
- Enjoy your dairy-free Indonesian beef delight!
