Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3 tomatoes, pureed
  • 2 green chilies, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger paste
  • 1 tablespoon garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for cooking

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a karahi or deep pan.
  • Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  • Add ginger paste and garlic paste, and cook for a minute.
  • Add chicken pieces and cook until they are browned.
  • Add pureed tomatoes, green chilies, red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well.
  • Cover the pan and let the chicken cook on low heat for about 20 minutes or until it is tender.
  • Add yogurt and mix well. Cook for another 5 minutes.
  • Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot with naan or rice.
