Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp ginger, grated
- 1 tbsp fish sauce
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sugar
- 4 cups beef broth
- 2 cups water
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 star anise
- 4 cloves
- 4 burger buns
- Toppings: bean sprouts, basil leaves, lime wedges, jalapenos, hoisin sauce, sriracha
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, onion, garlic, ginger, fish sauce, soy sauce, and sugar. Mix well and form into patties.
- Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until cooked to your desired doneness. Set aside.
- In a large pot, combine the beef broth, water, cinnamon stick, star anise, and cloves. Bring to a boil and let simmer for 20 minutes to infuse the flavors.
- While the broth is simmering, prepare the toppings and burger buns.
- Once the broth is ready, strain out the spices and return the broth to the pot. Keep warm.
- To serve, place a cooked burger patty in each burger bun. Ladle the hot pho broth over the patty, allowing it to soak into the bun.
- Top with bean sprouts, basil leaves, lime wedges, jalapenos, hoisin sauce, and sriracha, as desired.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
